New online identity management tool from Origo

(InsuranceNewslink.com Via Thomson Dialog NewsEdge) Origo, the standards body for ecommerce in the UK financial services industry, today announced the launch of a new online UNIPASS Control Centre tool, making it easier for UNIPASS-enabled firms to better manage their own user population.

With enhanced functions developed specifically for UNIPASS controllers, the new Control Centre enables them to track the progress of their members applications and view certificate status details online, as well as to help better manage company leavers and the removal of their certificates. Providers, lenders and advisers have all agreed this will help improve security in the industry and prevent former employees from being able to access client details.

The UNIPASS Control Centre will also be used to reissue any lost or compromised certificates, for approving/rejecting/changing applications, and to make changes to an organisation's identity details.

The launch of the new application follows an initial pilot, undertaken with 14 key UNIPASS user-firms. Feedback from the pilot confirmed that the new application is very intuitive and will save users time by reducing calls to staff and helpdesks. Jonathan Cullen of Northern Bank, said "The Control Centre is a user friendly, time saving tool that will improve the control I have when managing our users."

Brian Moffat of Prudential also tested the Control Centre and was pleased with the results, commenting "It is very easy to use and allows firms to manage their staffs online access rights in one place, which is very useful.

Paul Pettitt, managing director of Origo, commented: We are always looking to make life easier for people in the industry and improve on services as newer and more up-to-date applications become available. Some firms have hundreds of UNIPASS users and it should now be even simpler to manage them more effectively than could ever be possible with clunky old password systems. The new Control Centre gives them a one stop shop for managing their user identities and saves them time."
