Former NuCORE CEO Joins Adams Capital Management as Venture Partner

PALO ALTO, Calif., Feb. 22 /PRNewswire/ -- Adams Capital Management, Inc. (ACM) today announced that Joe Raffa, former CEO of NuCORE, a leading fabless supplier of imaging processing chips to Japanese digital camera and camcorder makers, has joined ACM as a Venture Partner.

Raffa's two decades in technology general management and operations, combined with the experience of ACM General Partner George Ugras, will expand ACM operations in its Palo Alto office.
As an ACM Venture Partner, Raffa will identify early-stage investment opportunities in the IT and semiconductor industries, and work with current portfolio companies on expansion strategies. "Joe brings tremendous domain expertise in semiconductors and deep technical and operational leadership experience at large, industry-leading companies and start-ups," Ugras said. "His skills are well suited to our business model. He will make a significant impact for ACM."
Before NuCORE, Raffa was vice president and general manager of the logic synthesis business unit at Synopsys, the largest U.S. electronic design automation (EDA) company. He also led Hewlett-Packard's marketing for its RISC-based engineering workstation, growing revenues to $1 billion during his tenure from 1983 to 1994. Raffa holds an M.S. in Electrical Engineering from Stanford University and an M.B.A. from Harvard Business School.
"I'm delighted to join ACM," Joe Raffa said. "ACM's success in building leading technology companies is a result of the general partners' deep domain expertise, ability to identify and exploit discontinuities in selected investment areas, and a hands-on approach to guiding portfolio company management teams. I look forward to working with ACM and its portfolio company management teams."
ACM's Venture Partner Program is an ongoing effort to collaborate with industry experts to identify emerging technologies with compelling business models, and to leverage the operations expertise of successful entrepreneurs to optimize the long-term success of ACM portfolio companies.
"Joe has already demonstrated his leadership by refocusing several current portfolio company teams on emerging market needs, and by driving their business strategy to achieve profitability earlier in the company's life cycle," said Joel Adams, ACM General Partner. "Joe will add tremendous value to our portfolio by leveraging his semiconductor and EDA industry expertise in addition to his startup CEO and executive leadership experience."
