Apple Nears Disney Deal For iTunes TV, CBS, NBC News Corp. Resist (AAPL,DIS,CBS,GE,NWS)Aug 25, 2010 (SmarTrend News Watch via COMTEX) -- 8/25/2010-Apple (NASDAQ:AAPL) is reportedly nearing a deal with Disney (NYSE:DIS) as well as a number of other major TV companies to offer 99-cent rentals of TV episodes, in an effort to reshape the tv business around its devices. The deal with Walt Disney will enable Apple to offer rentals for some ABC TV shows through its iTunes store, sources familiar with the matter said. Among those larger TV companies that have resisted the movement was CBS Corp. (NYSE:CBS), General Electric's (NYSE:GE) NBC, News Corp. (NYSE:NWS), and Viacom (NYSE:VIA).
