Amphion Forum Reveals Speaker Lineup for San Francisco Mobile Security Event, Hosted by Mocana

SAN FRANCISCO --(Business Wire)--

Mocana (News - Alert), a leader in smart device security, today announced the lineup of industry luminaries who will speak during the upcoming Amphion Forum in San Francisco on December 5, 2012. Attendees can save $200 by registering at https://amphionforum.com by October 31.

Modeled on the World Economic Forum, Amphion is characterized as "where security meets the Internet of Things." The event brings together thought leaders from academia, business, government and the technology industry to discuss the threats and opportunities presented by the unprecedented proliferation of mobile apps and connected devices. The San Francisco event is sponsored by a 'who's who' of mobile and device security innovators, including gold sponsors Mocana, Intel (News - Alert) Corporation, Wind River, McAfee, Codenomicon and VDC Research. Fixmo, Cryptography Research, Metaforic and Arxan Technologies are also sponsors.

"As the rollout of the Internet of Things accelerates, the industry must ensure that better security is built into devices and apps from the very start. Unfortunately, that's just not happening right now, and it puts us all at risk," said Kurt Stammberger, CISSP, the Chair of the Amphion Forum. "The Amphion Forum provides industry players with an arena for sharing best practices and solutions across industry lines - crucial for the cross-industry Internet of Things - and we'll have iOS and Android (News - Alert) device makers talkng to medical device makers, industrial controller manufacturers, smart grid designers - every type of non-PC connected device concern you can imagine."

After an opening statement by Adrian Turner, CEO of Mocana to welcome forum attendees, the event will kick off with two keynote addresses: Chris Rommel, vice president of embedded software and hardware for VDC Research, will present "Navigating the Internet of Things: Securing Profits by Protecting Devices," followed by Ira Winkler, chief security strategist at Codenomicon, speaking about "Preventing Zero-Day Vulnerabilities on Mobile Devices."

The morning session will continue with two panel discussions. First, Alberto Yepez, managing director at Trident Capital will lead a panel of experts in exploring "The Enterprise App Tsunami - What Leading Organizations Need to Know to Ride the Wave while Securing Their Interests." After a short break, Chris Rommel of VDC Research will lead an expert panel with luminaries from Intel, Wind River and McAfee (News - Alert) addressing device security and threats to the Internet of Things.

The afternoon forum agenda comprises four technology tracks featuring presentations by thought leaders from a number of leading technology companies, including Charles Walton, CEO at SecureKey Technologies, who will present "Securing the Endpoints: Innovations in ID and Security;" Dave Buster, director of customer solutions architectures for Elster Solutions, who will present "Threats to the Smart Grid: Possible Responses;" Erik Peterson, principal engineer for Mocana, who will present "The Security Cathedral and Bazaar: Mobile System Level Crypto Services vs. Embedded App Security;" and Dan Stickel, CEO at Metaforic, who will present "Self-Defending Software (Lessons from the Garden of Eden)."
