Education digest: New school district phone numbers; Wilson energy event

Jan 27, 2013 (Public Opinion - McClatchy-Tribune Information Services via COMTEX) -- Chambersburg Area School District is changing its information hotlines that parents access for delays, schedule changes and the district.

The district is also adding a phone number strictly for Spanish speakers.

The new phone numbers are 261-5680 for English and 261-5684 for Spanish. The change takes effect immediately.

The information hotline provides announcements on delays, cancellations and events. Messages are available by phone 24-hours a day. The district uses a Global Connect messaging system to disperse some important news to parents.

The district also added a news announcement on its web page and placed the info on the cancellation and delays page, in addition to the "contact us" page on the disitrict's web site.

According to district technology director Christine Wolgemuth, the reason for the change is due to updates of the district's phone system.
