IHRSA and Mercado Fitness Announce New Conference & Trade Show for Mexico City in October 2014(Targeted News Service Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) BOSTON, March 26 -- The International Health, Racquet and Sportsclub Association issued the following news release: IHRSA, The International Health Racquet & Sportsclub Association and Mercado Fitness announce the creation of a business leadership conference and trade show for the Mexican and Central American health club market to be held October 22-23, 2014 in Santa Fe, Mexico. According to the IHRSA Latin American Report, Mexico is second only to Brazil in Latin America with 7,826 health and fitness facilities. The health club industry generates $1.479 Billion in revenue, yet only counts 2.7 million or 2.5% of the population as health club members. Mexico recently surpassed America as the country with the highest level of obesity amongst its population. "As the Mexican government attempts to address the root cause of obesity, the potential for significant industry growth is apparent," said Ablondi. "This will be a world-class business networking and educational event," said Velez, as Mercado Fitness prepares to host its 10th Annual Expo & Conference in Buenos Aires, Argentina on April 25-26. Later that same day, more than 200 industry leaders were present at the IHRSA Latin American Forum, sponsored by Fitness Brasil and Mercado Fitness, when the IHRSA Mercado Fitness Mexico City Conference & Trade Show was announced publically for the first time, to cheers from many in attendance.
