The DCP approval extends to both 980 DisplayPort modules—the DP 1.2 module and the recently released DP 1.4 Protocol Analyzer/Video Generator module. "Teledyne LeCroy's DCP-approved 980 HDCP 2.2 test tool is a welcome addition to the ecosystem," remarked DCP, LLC's President Stephen Balogh. "The test tool will assist manufacturers of next generation DisplayPort/HDCP products ensure HDCP 2.2 compliance — a necessary step in bringing products to market. The 980 HDCP 2.2 test tool will also help manufacturers troubleshoot potential interoperability issues with other next generation source, sink and repeater devices." "As the variety of consumer electronic products, ranging from desktop PCs and displays to mobile and wearable devices, increasingly incorporate the DisplayPort digital interface to drive 4K and higher video resolutions, it is essential for the supply chain to have the test tools necessary to ensure product compliance. We welcome the efforts of VESA member companies like Teledyne LeCroy in providing manufacturers with a comprehensive solution to HDCP 2.2 compliance for all DisplayPort devices," said Bill Lempesis, executive director of the Video Electronics Standards Association (VESA). Operation of the HDCP 2.2 DCP, LLC version of the compliance test solution is simple. The HDCP 2.2 compliance test is initiated through the 980 GUI Manager. Once initiated, the tests run to completion without significant user interaction. When a test series has been completed, the instrument issues a detailed report that provides pass/fail results for each individual test. Reports and log files can be viewed through the 980 GUI Manager and can be distributed to colleagues and other subject matter experts for analysis. In addition to the HDCP 2.2 compliance test, the 980 DisplayPort module offers debug features that help identify and resolve HDCP compliance and interoperability problems. Developers can monitor HDCP 2.2 (and 1.3) transactions in real time, perform captures from an HDCP 2.2 source and examine the authentication and encryption data within the DisplayPort stream to help identify the root cause of compliance test failures.
