Health Networks Launch Sports Medicine Libraries On US High School Athletic Department Websites

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich., July 31, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- Participation in high school sports is at an all-time high. Nearly 8M athletes will participate in organized high school sports programs each year, and with the increase comes the risk for injuries, often caused by overuse. In many cases, keeping athletes on the field is as simple as understanding the causes, symptoms and remedies, avoiding harm before it becomes serious. VNN, America's largest and fastest growing high school sports communication platform, and several regional health practices, today launched sports medicine libraries to key markets in VNN's network of over 2,000 high school athletic department partners. The initiative connects health resources and content to a native section on local high school athletics websites nationwide.

Custom sports medicine libraries aim to give parents, athletes, staff, and fans easy access to health information on their school's official home online alongside game schedules, scores, photos, and articles. At launch, the libraries will include information about injury prevention, workout plans, nutrition, and suppot systems, as defined by the health systems in each school's local community. Launch partners include Northside Hospital (Atlanta, GA), Henry Community Health (Indianapolis, IN), Southwest General Health Center (Cleveland, OH), Premier Health System (Western Ohio), and Allegheny Health Network (Pittsburgh, PA).

"The word community is right there in our name," said Ricci Atchison, PR and Marketing Director at Henry Community Health. "Our team is committed to providing healthcare to area families and we constantly look for ways to share what we know to keep them healthy. It's a great way of bringing our mission to life."

"As our network of high school partners continues to expand, we're reaching more parents, athletes and fans in local communities than ever before," said VNN Marketing Director Romy Glazer. "Our platforms are the online home for essential high school sports content, and these partnerships create the opportunity to have a major positive impact across the nation by helping active families understand key issues relating to their health with information from the providers who know them best."

A national roll-out of Sports Medicine libraries is slated for the Fall 2018 sports season, with exclusive sponsorships available. For more information, contact Gina Apicella, Vice President of National Media at [email protected]
