Barco ClickShare Embraces Microsoft Platform for Enhanced Security and User Experience

By Greg Tavarez June 21, 2024

The modern workplace thrives on collaboration, and easy and smooth communication in meeting rooms is crucial. However, integrating personal devices with conference room technology can present challenges for users and IT departments.  Security concerns and cumbersome setups can hinder productivity and dampen the collaborative spirit.

Barco, a company recognized for its innovative meeting room solutions, announced a step toward addressing these issues.

Barco announced that its next generation of ClickShare solutions will use the Microsoft (News - Alert) Device Ecosystem Platform, or MDEP. This shift in operating systems promises to boost ClickShare's renowned user experience while enhancing security and manageability for IT departments. ClickShare is a cornerstone of Barco's success and allows users to easily present and collaborate in meetings directly from their personal devices.

“ClickShare remains focused on bringing a simple, premium experience to meeting spaces. We will continue to create innovative experiences, while leveraging Microsoft’s expertise in security, manageability, and AI capabilities," said Jan van Houtte, EVP Meeting Experience at Barco. "We are pleased to accelerate our defined partnership with Microsoft, expanding beyond ClickShare’s integration with Shared Spaces.”

MDEP offers a secure and IT-friendly foundation for device manufacturers and software developers. This collaboration between Barco and Microsoft will enable ClickShare to further refine its user experience while benefiting from Microsoft's security protocols and enterprise-grade features.

“Microsoft and Barco share a common emphasis on designing solutions with enhanced privacy, accessibility, and manageability excellence,” said Juha Kuosmanen, Head of MDEP at Microsoft. “We are proud to welcome Barco, a leading player in the BYOD rooms, to the Microsoft Development Ecosystem Platform community.”

Barco boasts a strong track record in the BYOD market, with its ClickShare Conference system facilitating video conferencing from personal laptops while utilizing the meeting room's audio-visual equipment. This commitment to user convenience aligns with MDEP's focus on fostering a seamless and secure device experience.

The move toward MDEP signifies Barco's continued dedication to innovation in the hybrid meeting landscape. By prioritizing user experience and security, Barco aims to further solidify ClickShare's position as a leader in collaborative meeting solutions.
